A Tiny Walk-in Shower in Del Ray – Alexandria
This was a very creative transformation of a small 5’x7′ bathroom with a bathtub in this 1945 built home. We didn’t have room to expand as the end wall was an exterior wall, so we had to make do with what we had.
We replaced the swing door with a pocket door, switching all electrical outlets and switches to the opposite wall. To create more storage, we installed a shallow cabinet on the exterior wall which the pocket door was installed. Instead of installing towel bars for this family of 3 – this being the only available bathroom in the house – we installed hooks to save space. An exhaust fan with LED lights and Bluetooth feature and some additional 4″ slim fit recessed lights were also part of the lighting. The recessed medicine cabinet has hardwired lighting on the borders of the mirrors and inside as well. In addition, this medicine cabinet offers USB and 15 Amp outlet plug on the inside. A classic Kholer toilet with floating shelves above it.
The walk-in shower has some ADA features to provide safety for the homeowner in her aging years.
